Sulfat-, Natron- oder Sulfitzellstoff mit besonders hohem Alphazelluloseanteil (normalerweise mindestens 90 Prozent). Diese Zellstoffart wird immer gebleicht und i. d R. für andere Zwecke als zur Papierherstellung verwendet werden. Edelzellstoff wird generell als Zellulosequelle bei der Herstellung von Kunstfasern, Kunststoffen, Lacken und Sprengstoffen eingesetzt
