Horizontale Integration von Tätigkeiten liegt vor, wenn verschiedene Arten von Tätigkeiten unter Einsatz derselben Produktionsfaktoren gleichzeitig ausgeführt werden, wobei ihre Aufteilung in separate statistische Einheiten nicht möglich ist. Beispiel: Herstellung von Backwaren in Verbindung mit der Herstellung von Süßwaren aus Schokolade.
